As technology continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace, it's easy to forget the groundbreaking innovations that paved the way for the advanced IT solutions we have today. From the early days of personal computing to the advent of cloud computing and beyond, there have been numerous milestones that have shaped the industry as we know it.

As we enter our 40th year in business, we’re excited to share with you an infographic celebrating 40 years of IT innovations, highlighting some of the most significant moments in the history of computing. From the establishment of VLCM to the introduction of the first antivirus, this infographic showcases the key moments that have made a lasting impact on the world of IT.

40 Years of IT

One of the standout moments in the infographic is the establishment of VLCM, which was selected as one of only three IBM dealers in Utah to sell the new IBM Personal Computer out of a pool of 300 applicants. This moment set the foundation for VLCM's decades-long commitment to "Getting IT Right" for their customers, delivering innovative solutions that drive business success.

The infographic also features the introduction of the CompacTape, a revolutionary storage solution developed by Digital Equipment Corporation for its VAX family of computers. This tape drive initially held 92 MB of data and wrote 22 data tracks back and forth on ½-inch wide tape, setting a new standard for storage capacity and data access.

Another significant moment is the first documented removal of an "in the wild" computer virus, performed by Bernd Fix in 1987. This event served as a wake-up call to the importance of cybersecurity in the rapidly evolving world of computing.

Fast forward to the 21st century, and we see the introduction of cloud computing with the launch of Amazon Web Services (AWS), paving the way for a new era of flexible and scalable computing solutions. Additionally, the concept of "zero trust" was popularized by John Kindervag of Forrester Research, which emphasizes the importance of strong security measures in an age where cyber threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated.

Overall, the 40 years of IT innovations infographic serves as a reminder of the incredible strides made in the world of technology, and the ongoing need for businesses to stay ahead of the curve in order to remain competitive. We encourage you to take a look and celebrate the pivotal moments that have made IT what it is today.
